CBLJ Forum Sets Agenda in Beijing 2026

The 2026 China Business Law Journal (CBLJ) Forum in Beijing convened more than 500 senior executives, in‑house counsel, and legal professionals from over 300 firms on 26 June, drawing a live‑stream audience of roughly 300,000 viewers.

Forum theme and opening remarks

Hosted at the JW Marriott Hotel Beijing, the event carried the theme “Seizing Emerging Opportunity, Managing Global Risk.” Jiang Lili, secretary‑general of the Beijing Arbitration Commission (BAC), opened the session by noting the long‑standing partnership between BAC and CBLJ since 2013. She highlighted BAC’s recent “Arbitration Culture Promotion Month” and its plans to expand beyond China, including a new Hong Kong centre and a Central Asia branch in Karamay, Xinjiang.

The fast‑track med‑arb rules introduced in April have already been applied in nearly 100 cases with an average dispute value of RMB 47 million (about USD 6.9 million). Jiang also referenced the commission’s broader strategy to support cross‑border arbitration.

Key panel discussions

The forum featured 13 panels divided into morning and afternoon sessions. More than 70 legal experts and industry leaders spoke on topics ranging from cross‑border asset recovery to AI‑related intellectual‑property protection. In the morning, panels addressed outbound risks in the new era of globalization, cross‑border enforcement, and updates to China’s arbitration law.

Afternoon workshops explored corporate anti‑fraud systems, strategies for Hong Kong listings, and emerging issues in AI‑driven capital movements. Moderators from firms such as law firms Dacheng Law Offices and DeHeng Law Offices guided the discussions, ensuring a blend of practical guidance and regulatory insight.

The event ended on time.

One observation that emerges from the day’s dialogue is that firms appear to be reshaping their legal departments into hubs of strategic planning rather than reactive defense. This shift suggests a broader industry trend toward integrating risk management with business development, a move that could influence how multinational corporations allocate resources in the coming years.

Closing events and awards

Evening proceedings included a closed‑door banquet for attending executives, during which the In‑house Counsel Awards 2026 were presented. Winners received certificates recognizing their contributions to corporate legal excellence. The ceremony highlighted the forum’s emphasis on celebrating practical achievements alongside theoretical discussion.

Media partners such as Sina Finance and special partner LAW+ supported the event, while platinum sponsors Dorsey and Pillsbury, among others, provided financial backing. The collaborative effort illustrated the importance of cross‑sector cooperation in addressing complex legal challenges.
