Sullivan & Cromwell LLP has announced a significant expansion of its private equity practice with the appointment of four new partners: Hamed Meshki, Luke Guerra, Guirgis Nasief, and Y. Michael Chung. These partners will join the firm’s Los Angeles and New York offices, bringing exceptional expertise in advising private equity sponsors, asset managers, and their portfolio companies on complex transactions.

These additions are part of the firm’s global strategic plan to strengthen its position in the U.S. and global private equity markets, building on recent growth in London.

New Leadership for Private Equity Practice

Hamed Meshki, recognized as one of the top private equity lawyers in the U.S., will lead Sullivan & Cromwell’s global Private Equity Practice. Meshki will also co-lead the firm’s Los Angeles office alongside Patrick Brown, the L.A. Managing Partner. Meshki’s leadership role shows the firm’s commitment to enhancing its private equity capabilities globally.

The new partners bring a combined nearly six decades of experience, having advised on hundreds of high-stakes transactions for the world’s premier private equity and asset management firms. Their expertise spans mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, restructurings, and corporate governance matters.

Strengthening M&A Capabilities

Sullivan & Cromwell’s Co-Chairs, Robert Giuffra and Scott Miller, highlighted the group’s commercial judgment, collaborative approach, and deep market knowledge as key assets. These qualities will enhance the firm’s private equity and M&A capabilities in the U.S. and globally.

Meshki’s expertise includes mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, and restructurings across industries such as consumer products, energy, healthcare, industrials, media and entertainment, software and technology, and transportation. His recognition by Chambers USA, The Legal 500 U.S., and IFLR1000 shows his standing in the legal community.

Expanding Expertise in Private Equity and M&A

The new partners bring extensive experience in complex business transactions. Meshki advises on recapitalizations and financings, while Guerra’s expertise includes equity investments and joint ventures. Their industry focus spans technology, financial services, media and entertainment, consumer products, healthcare, energy, and industrials.

Global Reach and Collaborative Culture

Meshki cited Sullivan & Cromwell’s reputation for excellence, collaborative culture, and commitment to the growth of a world-class platform for private equity and alternative asset management clients as key factors in his decision to join. He looks forward to working with the firm’s exceptional lawyers and contributing to the growth of the private equity practice.
